Export Growth
According to monthly data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, Turkey’s semi-finished steel exports doubled year-on-year from January to August, reaching 148,750 tons. This growth aligns with Turkey’s increased crude steel production, which rose by 14.8% year-on-year to 24.8 million tons, as reported by the Turkish Steel Producers Association.

Export Destinations
Turkey’s semi-finished steel exports to Italy surged sevenfold, reaching 80,700 tons in the January-August period. Exports to Romania quadrupled, totaling 28,200 tons, while shipments to the UK soared from just 1,000 tons last year to 20,800 tons. Turkey also exported 10,000 tons to Peru, a significant increase from zero exports last year.

Import Trends
On the import side, Turkey’s semi-finished steel imports declined by 2.1% year-on-year over the same period, totaling 424,400 tons.
