Expansion Plans for 2030
Kocaer Celik, a leading Turkish producer of steel sections, has announced plans to invest in a new meltshop and its fourth steel profile plant as part of its growth strategy and vision for 2030. This expansion will increase the company’s production capacity and diversify its product offerings.
Increased Capacity and Product Variety
The new profile plant will add grades to Kocaer’s portfolio that are not currently produced domestically in Turkey. The plant will have a production capacity of 500,000 tonnes per year. With this new addition, Kocaer’s total steel production capacity will rise to 1.3 million tonnes per year, with an ambitious target to increase the share of value-added products in total production to 70%.
Meltshop Investment for High-Quality Production
In addition to the profile plant, Kocaer is planning a new meltshop with a capacity of 1 million tonnes per year. This will allow the company to produce billets and blooms in various sizes and grades, aimed at producing high-quality steel products.
Green Steel Production and Cost Reduction
The new plant will be equipped with advanced green steel production technologies, helping reduce raw material costs by 10-12%. The company plans to commission the meltshop in 2028, marking a significant step towards sustainability and cost efficiency in production.
Renewable Energy and Global Expansion
As part of its long-term strategy, Kocaer is also increasing its focus on renewable energy. The company plans to expand its renewable energy capacity from 9 MW in 2024 to 249 MW by 2030 through investments in geothermal and solar power plants.
Additionally, Kocaer is working on feasibility studies to expand its international distribution channels. The company plans to open five new distribution channels and service centres in key markets such as Saudi Arabia, the USA, and the EU, further solidifying its global presence.
